- What’s Happening Around Downtown in January?
January marks the beginning of the calendar year and the beginning of resolutions for people across the country and while many folks are looking ahead, I would like to take a peak back. Generally speaking, I am a forward thinker and like to have a few steps planned out in front of me but at the end of each year I think that a moment of reflection can help to ground us and keep us in the moment. While I have looked back throughout the past year, I think that one of the most recent events at the Downtown Association warrants a good article.
- Notice to Downtown Association Members
It has come to our attention that the California State Board of Equalization (BOE) plans to visit businesses in our area as part of the Statewide Compliance and Outreach Program (SCOP). The BOE will visit businesses throughout the state to ensure they have all required permits and licenses. The visits are also an opportunity for business owners to learn more about the state’s tax laws and regulations and to ask questions about any BOE programs. If you have questions regarding the upcoming visits, any tax and fee programs the BOE administers, or permit requirements, please visit www.BOE.CA.gov or contact SCOP Supervisor Chantale Sawaya at (408) 938-7779.
