March marks the start of spring! And here at the Downtown Association, we are already springing into action and gearing up for the month. This month kicks off with our Beautification Awards Breakfast and ends with five new faces joining our Board of Directors at the annual Board Retreat. Amidst those big dates we are sending several staff members off to the California Main Street Alliance’s Winter Conference to seek out information and bring it back to our community so we can continue to make magic happen in Downtown. Come into SLO Good Garden & Gifts, and well, you’ll be “SLOglad” you did! Owner and SLO native, Boki Ackerman (pictured) opened the shop at 741 Higuera Street to offer locals and tourists a souvenir and gift shop that’s welcoming, positive as well as reasonably priced.

Meet the newest face of fashion in SLO! Vanja Couture (pronounced “von-ya”) brings you the latest contemporary modern trends in fashion. They offer original designs as well as styles from designers around the globe. A drive to Santa Barbara is no longer required for fashion.
Kier and Vanja Staeheli began Vanja Couture online one year ago and selected Downtown San Luis Obispo for their flagship store. Read More

This annual event honors more than two dozen Downtown businesses who have gone “above and beyond” by improving, enhancing or newly establishing their business’ image.
June 13 – September 5
From nearly 50 applicants, 14 of the area’s greatest musical groups have been selected to play for the much anticipated 2014 Concerts in the Plaza.
