  • Concerts in the Plaza featuring The Mother Corn Shuckers

Mother Corn ShuckersThe Mother Corn Shuckers are sure to have you tappin’ your toes and having a good ole time with their beergrass tunes this Friday, July 29th at Concerts in the Plaza! THE premier summer concert series is presented by Sunset Honda and hosted by SLO Downtown Association and runs every Friday from June 10th through September 9th from 5 – 8 PM.

The Mother Corn Shuckers are a nine piece acoustic Bluegrass/Americana band based out of the Central Coast of California that first “sprouted out” as a music jam around a fire pit. This ragged band of “surf-a-billies” and “shuck-adours” will surprise you with the fun lovin’ sound they call “Beergrass”. Their six part harmonies and foot stompin’ melodies can bring a shuckin’ good time to any event or venue.  Read More

  • Downtown Perspective

Father_Russell_BrownMission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa is one of the oldest establishments in the area we know as Downtown SLO, second only to our Chumash population and natural environment. I would be remiss to not have taken a chance to sit down with Father Russell Brown as a part of my interview series this year. Father Russ is known to many of our community members in many capacities and I wanted to take a chance to study his perspective on our community, the perspective of a pastor in the middle of an urban center. I was amazed to learn of his story and how he came to be the current leader of our Mission.
