Women’s March SLO

Saturday, January 21st

This Friday marks an American tradition as we formalize the incoming of the 45th President of the United States. Inauguration day will be tomorrow and events all around the country will recognize this tradition. On Saturday, January 21st however, there will be a different type of celebration across the country. The Women’s March movement will be marching in communities from all parts of the United States and there will be a march here in SLO as well.

    This quote struck me the first time I laid eyes on it, partially because I am an angler and partially because it is such a beautiful arrangement of words that sum up life. Universally speaking, the words penned by Norman Maclean 40 years ago in his semi-autobiographical novel translate to so many aspects of our lives. You don’t have to enjoy fly-fishing to appreciate the trials of a family dynamic and their love for fishing or the abundance of metaphors that Maclean laced throughout his story. Similarly, it does not take a literary genius to see that the story talks about fishing and relationships but it speaks to the pursuit of the meaning of life and the different paths that each of us take in that journey.  Read More

  • New Opportunity to Join Our Team

    Join the SLO Downtown Association team as its Digital Marketing Coordinator. The Digital Marketing Coordinator (DMC) is responsible for coordinating external communications to the world through our robust social media presence, weekly newsletters, press releases and coordinated advertising campaigns with our local media partners. The DMC is often seen Downtown shooting photos of events or new member businesses for our monthly column in SLO Journal Plus. The position is flexible and time in the office and the field may vary depending on seasonal events.

  • Downtown Foreword

    Parking_front_OutOur first Downtown Foreword was held in the SLO Library Community Room last month. Local parking and transportation experts participated in a panel discussion about the science and theory that drives how we travel through a downtown environment, alternatives to cars and the advances in technology that will shape the future of transit. Old SLO Trolley

Trolley service is provided from both of the parking structures and at convenient locations within the Downtown core approximately every 15 minutes. The fare is 50 cents. Hours of operation are:

  • Thursdays - 5 PM to 9 PM - Year Round
  • Fridays - 5 PM to 9 PM - June-Labor Day
  • Saturday - 5 PM to 9 PM - April - October
