2013 Beautification Awards

DOWNTOWN SLO BUSINESSES RECOGNIZED AT
BEAUTIFICATION AWARDS CEREMONY

This year was the celebration of more than twenty businesses being honored for their contribution to the beautification of the Downtown. The annual Beautification Awards, hosted by Deborah Cash and Landy Fike, was held at MO | TAV on March 8 with honorees receiving certificates of recognition, merit and excellence for their commitment to enhancing an already stunning Downtown via physical remodel, façade improvements, signage, merchandising, maintenance and community art.  It is important to note that all projects were completed in 2012 to be eligible for any award.  The ceremony culminated with the announcement of the MAYOR’S AWARD winner whose project is annually deemed the “best of show” of all the projects, with Mayor Jan Howell Marx presenting the beautifully framed certificate to this year’s winner, Granada Hotel & Bistro, for their multi-million dollar renovation, which includes a modern industrial design, exposed brick walls, restored original hardwood floors and brand new building systems.

The Beautification Awards committee members included:  Marshall Ochylski, Lynn Hessler, Bob Seeley, Pam Seeley, Landy Fike, Jackie Crane, Deborah Cash and Brent Vanderhoof.
