On a Summer afternoon I had the opportunity to sit down with a man that has been changing San Luis Obispo and educating students at Cal Poly since his arrival. In my previous interviews, one man kept coming up as a person that had a story that would be great material for this series. The following account of our interview is the summation of the longest interview that I have ever conducted and the lessons that were laced throughout the interview, as to be expected from a long time professor.
In 1952 a young man came to San Luis Obispo with his wife and two children to pursue a new career as a professor at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Ken Schwartz and his family were leaving a much larger Los Angeles to try the small town life. - Sponsorship Opportunities Available for Holiday Parade
Want to get involved, promote your business and support Downtown? Become a sponsor for our annual Holiday Parade.
We currently have four more sponsorship opportunities available for our Holiday Parade. Our procession is the county’s most popular event attracting thousands to Downtown SLO. Sponsors receive recognition at all announcer stations throughout the parade route and free entry into the parade. Sponsors’ logos are placed on all print media including Holiday posters, flyers and advertisements as well as in the Downtown Association’s social media platforms, website and weekly newsletters.

Closing the 2016 Fresh Picked Concert Series season is local, indie-pop quartet, Fialta. The band has come to describe their sound as “Central Coast Literary Pop”, a genre they created for their sun-drenched, winter-dreading, narrative sensibilities.
