- What’s Up Around Downtown in September?
Each year our town undergoes a rather dramatic transformation during September. Not only do we get a change of seasons we get a change of pace as parents get settled in with their children starting classes again, harvest season arrives and college students move into our neighborhoods. It can be said that Autumn is the season of fullness; fullness with the bounty from orchards and gardens, fullness with our schedules as classes begin and vacations subside and fullness in our neighborhoods and streets as new students learn what it means to be a community member.
- Holiday Parade Applications Now Available
Calling all clubs, organizations, bands, businesses, dance troupes and musical acts come be a part of our annual Holiday Parade on Friday, December 5! Downtown Association’s Holiday Parade, now in its 39th year, is one of the area’s largest holiday events showcasing 100 decorative floats, jammin’ musical acts, dance performers and much more, entertaining thousands of attendees from around the county and beyond. This year we’re having a “Hula Holiday” theme to capture the warm holiday spirit we share on the Central Coast. Read More
- SLO Downtown Association Employment Opportunity
The San Luis Obispo Downtown Association has an opening for a Promotions Coordinator to oversee a variety of public events for our organization including– Concerts in the Plaza, Santa’s House in Mission Plaza, Holiday Parade and Holiday activities, and special events at Farmers’ Market such as Bunny Trail, Mother’s Day Flower Give-Away, Hallowe’en Festivities.
The Promotions Coordinator also works very closely with the Farmers’ Market (Thursday Night Promotions) Coordinator and often times engages with other public and private agencies to collaborate on events. The Promotions Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and staffs the Promotions Committee to plan events, promotes Downtown activities and helps keep Downtown vibrant through promotions. In addition, the Promotions Coordinator oversees the internship program and oversees the Promotions Coordinator Assistant and their volunteer program.
Fire Prevention Night

Farmers’ Market will be bustling with firefighters and big red fire engines in celebration of National Fire Prevention Week! Come meet firefighting heroes from all over San Luis Obispo County and learn about fire prevention, fire safety and living the life of a firefighter.
Thursdays 6 – 9 PM
Held every Thursday night, Farmers’ Market brings the community together to shop for fresh produce, sample San Luis Obispo’s delectable and varied cuisine, browse local shops, listen to live music and interact with local entertainers.
